For the past three years, I have a unique, wonderful opportunity to exhibit Colour Constructions in season — roughly May to October — at Bucks Head Tree Garden, in close collaboration with its owner/designer/director, Deborah Baker. Deborah planted the trees, establishing the overall “architecture,” almost 15 years ago. She moved away from Cornwall thinking that she was leaving the project behind. But in 2019, when she was visiting friends (us among them), she realised this was where she wanted to be. At almost the same moment, we both realised that there was a symbiotic relationship between her work with plants and mine with weather-resistant materials. She moved back to Bucks Head House in September, 2019. It’s been a joy and a revelation putting the work in place — full of surprises!
